Monthly Wrap Up

The month that was… July 2019

July has been another busy month, but I have hugely enjoyed working four days a week since the beginning of the month.  That extra day off has made so much difference, and even though there’s an impact on salary, it was absolutely the right thing for me to do.

My partner and I spent six days Fontainebleau, and it was absolutely beautiful.  We stayed in a gorgeous little barn conversion, and did a lot of walking and bouldering (the latter more my other half than me!)  The weather was fantastic, and we just missed the worst of the heatwave!

Despite being quite busy and away for a little while, I’v managed to read 12 books this month!  I’m quite a long way behind of my reviews though… o_O

Of the novels I did manage to review, my favourites were:

I also reviewed:

I also took part in Shelf Control (on the 3rd10th and 31st) and Six Degrees of Separation.

July is the month in which the long list for the Booker Prize is announced, and of course I had my usual fun in trying to predict the longlist, as well as sharing my thoughts on the actual longlist once announced on the 24th.

My Twenty Books of Summer is going quite well.  I’m reading my thirteenth book for the challenge, and while I’m behind on my reviews (I’m trying to catch up, honest!) I’m hoping that won’t count against me!

I had a bit of a splurge on books in July, and I regret nothing! 😀  I’m still working away at my backlist titles, and should have read them all within the next couple of months, which is really satisfying.

    1. I’ve only read Beartown and Us Against You so far – I’ll definitely be looking up more of his work though 🙂

  1. I thought I was doing well to get to book six on my #15booksofsummer reading challenge. No way will I get close to your figure……

Lucky that you missed the heatwave – doing anything in those kind of temperatures is impossible…
