Spell the month in books is hosted by Jana at https://reviewsfromthestacks.wordpress.com/ who suggests a theme each month. As I just like to look over my bookshelves and pick out titles old and new (I’ve already found so many books that I want to reread through doing this!), I’m doing my own thing and picking those titles that grab my attention each month.
As I’ve been absent recently, I’ve combined March and April into a single post. I’ve already planned out the whole year, and it would be a shame to let all that hard work go to waste!
My choices for March (with links to my reviews if available – some of these I read a long time ago!) are:
- Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
- Anatomy of a Soldier by Harry Parker
- Rosemary’s Baby by Ira Levin
- Circus of Wonders by Elizabeth Macneal
- Hex by Thomas Olde Heuvelt
And for April:
- Across the Void by S. K. Vaughn
- Pine by Francine Toon
- Room by Emma Donoghue
- Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice
- Look Who’s Back by Timur Vermes
Love it Jo! x
Thanks, Nicki – I have so much fun assembling these stacks! x
Your approach is very appealing – I find it incredibly difficult to find books to match the themes that get chosen.
I like the idea of a theme, but it can be incredibly difficult – I have the books that I have.
Nigh on impossible when you also have to match to letters like Y and U
True! I’ve struggled with some months without following a theme at all. I can do the whole year (I’ve checked!) but I doubt I could do it again without including duplicates.
Circus of Wonders looks so good — thanks for brining that to my attention. Great picks for March and April! ❤
I really enjoyed it, although perhaps not quite as much as Macneal’s debut, The Doll Factory.
