2018: A Year in Books and Blogging

Happy new year!  Hopefully you’re not feeling too worse for wear from last night’s festivities!  😉

At this time of year, I like to take a look back over the last 12 months at my year in books and blogging.  It’s mainly an excuse to roll out some funky graphs, but also a chance to send a big thank you to the authors and publishers who have provided copies of their books for review, as well as to my fellow bloggers who are the loveliest bunch of people you could wish to know.  I’m not sure who said it first, but book people really are the best kind of people!

I’ve already posted by favourite books of the year, which you can see here.  As ever, it’s been a fantastic year for books, and putting together a list of the top five was particularly difficult, as I read 127 books totalling 42,937 pages over the last 12 months.  To break it down further:

Of the titles I’ve reviewed this year, the most popular (based upon number of views) were:

  1. The Memory Chamber by Holly Cave
  2. The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton
  3. Lullaby by Leïla Slimani
  4. Dear Mrs Bird by A. J. Pearce
  5. The Lost Letters of William Woolf by Helen Cullen

Here’s to a happy, book-filled 2019!

  1. I like that The Seven Deaths is in your list!! Based on your rating graph it seemed like a pretty good year, and I hope 2019 will be even better if that’s possible. Happy New Year Jo ❤

  2. Happy New Year Jo! As always I love your graphs! Dear Mrs. Bird has bubbled up to the top of my TBR lately. Hopefully I will get to in soon 🙂

    1. Thank you, Tina! I think it might just be the two of us, but I’ll keep them going! 😂
Hope you enjoy Dear Mrs Bird!
