Monthly Wrap Up

The month that was… March 2026

March was a busy month! My OH visited Switzerland for work, and I travelled out to join him for the weekend. I spent a day exploring Basel, sampling some wonderful Swiss chocolate (I highly recommend Läderach if you get the opportunity) before we travelled to Engelberg so that he could go skiing while I took the opportunity to have an impromptu spa day. While the weather has been milder in the UK, it snowed while we were in Switzerland which was absolutely lovely.

This was followed by a road trip to France at the end of the month. Unfortunately my OH sprained his ankle during the trip, but we were able to get out a little once we picked up some crutches. On a positive note, France’s A&E services are very efficient. While not the ideal trip, it was still nice to get away.

I’d love to say that all that travel has been why I’ve not reviewed a single book in March, but that would be a lie. Yes, I was busy, but I’ve also been completely unable to write any reviews. Whenever I try, the words just don’t come. Hopefully this will pass soon. While I’ve not been reviewing, I have at least had a lot of time for reading, and I read 10 books during the month.

Books of the Month

Read and Reviewed

  • Crooked House by Agatha Christie
  • The Real-Town Murders by Adam Roberts
  • The Outsider by Albert Camus, translated by Sandra Smith
  • Shroud by Adrian Tchaikovsky
  • Wild Animal by Joël Dicker, translated by Robert Bononno
  • Trad Wife by Saratoga Schaefer
  • Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
  • Oracle by Thomas Olde Heuvelt, translated by Moshe Gilula
  • Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
  • Noon by Zain Rishi

Books acquired

Ok – this isn’t entirely my fault. I bought six books this month (and I’ve already read three of them!):

I also received one book for review:

My OH bought me a Shakespeare and Company subscription for Christmas which includes 12 books, sent in three batches of four. The first arrived at the end of the month:

TBR Watch

  • Start of the month: 58 books
  • Read / culled / DNFd from my TBR: 14 (some culling occurred)
  • Acquired: 11
  • End of the month: 55 books

And that’s my bookish month! Happy reading! 🩷

  1. I’d love to go to Switzerland. I’ve always just passed through it on the way to Italy. So the little I’ve seen of Basel was an icky hotel by the motorway and a steak restaurant (which was fab actually). 😄

Hope OH is on the mend.

Great bookish month and nice haul too. I hear you on the reviewing. It’s such a chore sometimes.
