Monthly Wrap Up

The month that was… June 2025

I say it every time but honestly, what a month! I started out with the intention of blogging more regularly and keeping on top of my reviews. I even signed up to 15 Books of Summer at the end of May for some added motivation. And I knew that there would be a gap mid-month as I travelled to Sweden for work and to meet my new team (great trip and a really nice group to be a part of), followed by a long weekend in Nice. I had hoped to get straight back into blogging after that, but life has just got in the way and now it’s July already. I really don’t know how you all keep up with reviewing regularly, or indeed, how I used to!

I did read some excellent books though, even if I haven’t reviewed many of them. The Terror was excellent and didn’t feel like it’s 900+ pages, and I’m now all caught up with M. W. Craven’s Washington Poe series ahead of the next instalment in August.

My favourite books this month

  • The Terror by Dan Simmons
  • The Mercy Chair by M. W. Craven
  • Good Girl Bad Girl by Michael Robotham

I also read / reviewed:

  • The Botanist by M. W. Craven
  • Nesting by Roisin O’Donnell
  • Death at the Sanatorium by Ragnar Jónasson (translated by Victoria Cribb)
  • The Stranger Times by C. K. McDonnel
  • The Lost Passenger by Frances Quinn
  • The Blue Hour by Paula Hawkins

Books acquired

A rare ARC for me this month, but I couldn’t resist the opportunity to read the new novel from Nathalie Haynes, No Friend to This House via Netgalley.

And I’m not sure what happened here – June was meant to be a month of restraint after May’s Hay Festival 😂

Must try harder in July…

And that’s my bookish month! Happy reading! 🩷
