Annual Wrap Up

2023: A Year in Books and Blogging

Happy New Year! 🥳 (Although, this isn’t actually my first post of the year, so it’s probably a little late to say it, but still – better late than never, right?!)

At the start of the year, I like to look back over the previous twelve months from a books and blogging perspective. It’s nice to summarise the year and, as long-time followers of this blog will know, I don’t need much excuse to roll out a few stats.

I read more books in 2023 than in 2022, although that number is still down on where it’s been in previous years when I’ve easily passed the 100 mark. The books I read in 2023 were longer on average, though, which will account for some of the difference. You can see my favourite books of the year here.

Female authors include all authors who, to the best of my knowledge, identify as female.

In terms of my blog, I published 112 blog posts last year. This is quite reduced from my usual level, and something I will try to improve upon for 2024 although I make no promises.

While I don’t pay much attention to the stats WordPress provides throughout the year, I do like to look at which of my posts were the most viewed come year end – it’s usually not the ones that I expect it to be! For 2023, the following were my most viewed posts:

  1. All Her Fault by Andrea Mara (originally posted in 2021, and I’ve no idea why it remains so popular!)
  2. I Will Find You by Harlan Coben
  3. The Baltimore Boys by Joël Dicker (originally posted in 2017!)
  4. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
  5. Children of Ruin by Adrian Tchaikovsky (originally posted in 2022)

So, there we have it – my year in books and blogging. I hope you had a good year, both generally as well as from a reading and / or blogging perspective. If you do your own annual wrap up post, drop a link in the comments and I’ll take a look 😊

Here’s to a great 2024! 🎉
