I’m sure that everyone is saying it, but how are we half way through the year already?!
June was another good month. I’ve been pushing myself to get out and about more and managed a five mile walk without too much pain. It was fairly steady in terms of the pace and terrain, but it felt good to get back out into the Peak District and was something of a step towards normality.
I also went on a walk of a slightly different kind. There’s a farm near where I live that lets you walk their alpacas (for a small fee), and this fella – who looks distinctly unimpressed with me here – is my new bestest bud, Parker! He was a little stubborn at times and wanted to stand and eat more than he wanted to walk around with me, but I think we got on well overall.
I managed to read nine books this month, focussing mainly on the books that I picked up from the talks at this year’s Hay Festival. Blogging, on the hand, took a back seat. I had a little break at the start of the month, and then fell behind with my reviews which I’ve still not managed to catch up on. I need to pick up the pace in July, or I’ll never complete 20 Books of Summer! 😬
Books Read and Reviewed
- Read in June:
20 Books of Summer Update
So far, I’ve read 7 books that I will count towards the challenge, 5 of which I’ve reviewed.
Favourite Reads This Month
I received two books for review this month, both for blog tours in July:
And acquired five:
And I had a weekend in Bath where I visited Mr B’s Emporium of Reading Delights for one of their Reading Spas! It was a fantastic experience and I came away with a wonderful haul of books that are very much suited to my tastes:
It’s going the wrong way…
- Books out = 9 read + 3 DNF* = 12
- Books in = 2 ARCs + 5 purchases + 7 from Mr B’s = 14
- Equals an increase of 2 in my TBR
*I may come back to some of the DNFs at a later date, but for now they have been removed from my TBR.
