Hosted by Cathy at 746books, 20 Books of Summer is an annual challenge to read and review 20 books from your TBR. This year, the challenge runs from 1 June to 1 September.
I enjoy this challenge, even though I’ve not always completed it. Reding 20 books in three months isn’t a problem, but reviewing them? That’s another matter entirely. It’s good fun though, and I love the relaxed approach to the rules which means that you can swap out books from your original list, or reduce the number from 20 to 15 or 10 if needed.
Here is my initial list, made up of the some older titles from my backlist as well as some more recent purchases.
- Case Study by Graeme Macrae Burnet
- Panenka by Rónán Hession
- The Perfect World of Miwako Sumida by Clarissa Goenawan
- Senlin Ascends by Josiah Bancroft
- Learwife by J. R. Thorp
- 12 Bytes by Jeanette Winterson
- Step Forward, Harry Salt by Ross Lowe
- Harlem Shuffle by Colson Whitehead
- The Wolf Den by Elodie Harper
- The Bone Shard Daughter by Andrea Stewart
- Devotion by Hannah Kent
- The Phlebotomist by Chris Panatier
- Sirens by Joseph Knox
- The Hemlock Cure by Joanne Burn
- The Dictator’s Wife by Freya Berry
- The Clockwork Girl by Anna Mazzola
- Animal by Sara Pascoe
- Kings of a Dead World by Jamie Mollart
- The Trees by Percival Everett
- Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfield
So that’s my starting list, although if I read even half of these I’ll be surprised! What do you think? Is there anything here that you’ve read, or anything you want to read? Are you taking part in 20 Books of Summer? Let me know in the comments! 😎
Fab list Jo! I’ve been meaning to read Wolf Den hope you get to it and enjoy it! x
Thank you, Nicki! I’ll get to it at some point, I’m sure…. 😬
Wolf Den was one of my favourite books last year and the Aidan Waits series is one of my favourite crime series too. Fab list. I will probably join although it will definitely be a challenge for me this year considering my reading mojo but I don’t have a list yet. Better get started, I guess 😳. Good luck, Jo! xx
I bought Sirens on your recommendation, so no pressure! 😄 Join – you can always reduce the volume if your mojo remains AWOL! x
Oh, boy 😱😂
Lear Wife is really good!
Good to know – I’m looking forward to it!
Oh great list! Case Study is on my pile too. Good luck and happy reading!
Thank you, Cathy! x
