I’ve absolutely no idea how this has happened, but my blog is ten years old today! 😱 I seem to have stopped marking my blogiversary after five years, but ten feels like such a milestone that I couldn’t let it go by without commenting on it.
I’ll be completely honest, when I started Jo’s Book Blog (I still wish I was better at naming things!), I had little to no expectation of maintaining it for any length of time, and certainly not for a whole decade. Who would be interested in what I have to say about the books I read, when so many others do it so much more eloquently and enthusiastically than I ever could? And yet, here we are.
I’d love to say that it’s been a wholly enjoyable process, but that would be a big fat lie. It takes a lot of time, and that’s something that I’m finding it increasingly hard to come by. My posting this year has been intermittent at best and there have been (many, many) times when I’ve considered giving up altogether. There is a part of me, however, that refuses to do so, and reaching the ten-year mark has actually given me some motivation to keep my own tiny little corner of the internet going and I hope to be more active on my site in the coming months. While this may not be the biggest and best blog out there (how one measures such things, I’ve no idea, but I’m sure you know what I mean), it’s mine and I’m actually quite proud of what I’ve achieved in the last ten years.
It’s been said before and it will be said again, but book people really are the best people. I love being part of this community, swapping recommendations, and just generally chatting about books and things. This blog wouldn’t be anything at all if no one visited it, and I love you all, whether you’re a regular or just stop by occasionally 🩷

Anypoodle, you probably know I’m going to say this but shut up, you are totally one of the best blogs out there. Even when you leave the path and start talking about books I’ve never heard of 😜.
You have every reason to feel and be proud of what you’ve achieved in this wee corner of the internet. We all know it’s hard, and we all have those moments when we considering chucking it all in, but I’m glad you’ve decided to stick around a while longer. Who else would I push my recommendations onto if you leave? (Jo Callaghan 😉)

Happy 10th blog anniversary! I completely feel you with the ups and downs as I’m also working my way slowly towards year 10. I’m happy you stuck with it and you need to know you have a truly wonderful blog.
