Monthly Wrap Up

The month that was… March 2025

Another busy month – and honestly, they’re all so busy now that perhaps I should be calling them average?  It started with a weekend in Ilkley, one of my favourite places in the UK.  I spent a very pleasant weekend exploring the town as well as perusing the wonderful Grove Bookshop finding a few new acquisitions to bring home with me.  It was lovely.

I also had a long weekend in Athens, somewhere that I’ve always wanted to go. It was great. The weather was nice – warm enough during the day, a little chilly first thing and in the evening, but really pleasant for exploring (despite the locals being in their winter coats!). And the food was superb. Greek cuisine is a favourite of mine and, as is so often the case, it’s just that little bit nicer at source. Highly recommend it if you’ve considered it.

It has been another quiet month on the blog, and I’ve only managed four book reviews.  It’s been a good month for reading though, and I’ve read some excellent books.

My favourite books this month

  • My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier
  • It Lasts Forever and Then It’s Over by Anne de Marcken
  • Making a Killing by Cara Hunter

I also read / reviewed:

  • Perilous Times by Thomas D. Lee
  • Helle and Death by Oskar Jensen
  • Fair Play by Louise Hegarty
  • Black Butterflies by Priscilla Morris
  • I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacquleine Harpman, translated by Ros Schwartz
  • Future’s Edge by Gareth L. Powell

Books acquired

Another good haul, including the books I purchased in Ilkley on the top row 😊

TBR Watch

I’m still chipping away at my TBR, although I have now booked my tickets for this year’s Hay Festival, and so I expect May to see me undo all this hard work in one fell swoop! 😂

And that’s my bookish month! I hope you had a good one, and that next month is even better! Happy reading! 🥰
