Monthly Wrap Up

The month that was… September 2024

So… how is everyone? I’ve hardly posted at all in the last month, as life just kept getting in the way.

This month has involved quite a bit of travel. My other half and I went to Spain for five days to an area a little north of Madrid. Despite being only 40 minutes’ drive from the capital, it felt as though we were off the beaten track. It was a lovely break, and if the weather wasn’t quite what I’d hoped for, I was able to get a decent glass of wine for less than 3 Euros, and I’ll happily take that trade. Once I got back from Spain, I went out to Sweden for a few days for work. This was a great trip, and it was really nice to meet some of my Swedish colleagues.

With travelling here, there, and everywhere, I did manage to get some reading done, although I’ve not posted a single review this month 😬 I will try to do better in October, but honestly – it’s already looking like a busy month!

Read in September:

  • The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi
  • To the Bright Edge of the World by Eowyn Ivey
  • The Land of Lost Things by John Connolly
  • The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
  • The Silence Factory by Bridget Collins
  • Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff
  • The Alaska Sanders Affair by Joël Dicker, translated by Robert Bononno
  • The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden
  • Day One by Abigail Dean

I think it’s fair to say that any attempt at constraint has gone out of the window in the last few months and shows no sign of returning any time soon. I regret nothing! 😋

And that’s my bookish month! I hope you had a good one, and that next month is even better! Happy reading! 🥰

  1. I’d love to go to Sweden some day. Or any of the Scandinavian countries, to be fair. Except Finland. That somehow seems too cold 😄

    1. I only saw a tiny little part of it, but I’d like to explore more widely. What I saw was lovely. I seem to remember seeing something that Finland is the happiest country in the world… despite the cold 😋
