I saw this challenge on Joanne’s wonderful Portobello Book Blog, and couldn’t resist having a go myself. The idea is to spell your handle using books, and while I’m no longer particularly active on social media, I decided to use my old handle of TinyIckleJo as it’s one I’m quite fond of, and it offers a little more variety than all the Os of Jo’s Book Blog.
Finding the books wasn’t a problem, even with that pesky J, but I wasn’t initially sure how to create the graphic. But, after a little experimentation (and, I’ll admit, a touch of frustration) here we are! The books I’ve chose are all favourites of mine, combining some recent and not-so-recent titles. I’m particularly pleased with the O and the two rabbits from the cover of Oryx and Crake!

The books I’ve chosen are:
T: (A) Terrible Kindness By Jo Browning Wroe
I: (The) Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman
N: (A) Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan
Y: You Don’t Know Me by Imran Mahmood
I: (The) Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab
C: Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
K: Keeper by Jessica Moor
L: Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
E: (The) Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry
J: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
O: Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood
What books would you pick? Let me know in the comments, or add a link if you’ve taken part in this challenge.
You will always be TinyIckleJo to me 😄
🥰
Love this ❤️
Thank you! 😊
Well done!
Thanks, Cathy 😊
Love this!
Thank you! 🙂
I’m going to try to do this too! How did you make the letters with the book covers???
I did mine in PowerPoint. Take the book cover you want to use, and place the letter over the top. I just placed mine in the middle, horizontally and vertically, but you could try different positions to optimise for each cover. Then select both the letter and the book cover, and go to the shape format menu and merge shapes. There’s an intersect option, which keeps only the bit of the cover that overlaps with the letter. Good luck!
I did mine a little different. In PowerPoint I made the letters using an open font, and then did text fill and pulled up the cover. You’ll see how it worked out on Friday, but your way looks great!
That’s a good idea! Well done, and I’m looking forward to seeing the end result 🙂
