Monthly Wrap Up

The month that was… September 2023

Um, hello – remember me? πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

It seems that this is the first time I’ve posted since 13 September 😬. I’d like to say that there is a good reason for that, and while I have been busy – life has been keeping me on my toes recently, and work in particular has been a little hectic – I’ve also just not prioritised blogging above other activities. Will I do better this month? It’s hard to say. I have a busy month planned, including a few weekends away. So, I’ll try, but I make no promises.

While I’ve not been blogging, I have at least got quite a lot of reading done in the last month, reading nine books, and including two chunkier volumes in the form of Our Share of Night and The Robber Bride.

Books Read and Reviewed

  • Read in August, reviewed in September:
  • Read in September:
    • The Ghost Theatre by Mat Osman
    • 19 Claws and a Black Bird by Agustina Bazterrica, translated by Sarah Moses
    • The Whispering Muse by Laura Purcell
    • Our Share of Night by Mariana Enriquez, translated by Megan McDowell
    • The Turnglass by Gareth Rubin
    • The Last Devil to Die by Richard Osman
    • Birnam Wood by Eleanor Catton
    • Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng
    • The Robber Bride by Margaret Atwood

Favourite Books This Month

I also posted my 20 Books of Summer wrap up, which you can see here.

Books Acquired

A relatively modest eight purchases this month, and a selection that I’m very excited about – so much so that I’ve read two of them already!

TBR Watch

I have cleared my backlist, which is very exciting!

  • Books out = 9 read + 3 DNF* = 12
  • Books in = 8 purchases
  • Gives a reduction of 4 in my TBR

*I may come back to the DNFs at a later date, but for now they have been removed from my TBR.
