Annual Wrap Up

2022: A Year in Books and Blogging

Happy New Year! 🥳

At the start of the year, I like to look back over the previous twelve months from a books and blogging perspective. It’s nice to summarise the year and – as long-time followers of this blog will know – I don’t need much excuse to roll out a few stats. It’s a year that I’m quite happy to see the back of for various reasons and I’m looking forward to getting the new year underway.

I did read fewer books than normal in 2022 and I normally pass the 100 mark by some margin. But it was a strange old year, and I’m not too disappointed with my total of 90. You can see my favourite books of 2022 here.

Female authors include all authors who – to the best of my knowledge – identify as female.

Other than that, my stats are about average – a little low on the proportion of 5 star reads, perhaps, but I think that was a case of it’s me, not the books.

In terms of my blog, I published 123 blog posts in 2022. Again, this is quite reduced from my usual level, and something I will try to improve upon for 2023. While I don’t pay much attention to the stats WordPress provides throughout the year, I do like to look at which of my posts were the most viewed come year end – it’s usually not the ones that I expect it to be!

  1. All Her Fault by Andrea Mara
  2. Reading Spa at Mr B’s Emporium of Reading Delights, Bath
  3. The Will by Rebecca Reid
  4. The Leviathan by Rosie Andrews
  5. Children of Ruin by Adrian Tchaikovsky

So, there we have it – my year in books and blogging. I hope you had a good year, generally as well as from a reading and / or blogging perspective. If you do your own annual wrap up post, drop it in the comments and I’ll take a look 😊

Here’s to a great 2023! 🎉

  1. Happy new Year Jo, love your stats! I’ve been looking at my WP stats as well and they’ve been getting worse for years. I think it’s because lots of bloggers who used to follow me have disappeared but sadly I don’t know who’s missing. Here’s a wonderful 2023! x

    1. Happy new year! 🥳

Thank you, Nicki! I know that I’ve not posted as much with various goings on in the last year, so it’ll be interesting to see how things look this year.

Ah well – you’re stuck with me for a while longer at least! :p
