September started with a trip to Marseille which I thoroughly enjoyed. It’s a great city, and the weather was lovely – 28°/29° during the day, and warm enough at night to walk around in a dress and sandals. Coming back to the UK where the weather has turned decidedly autumnal was a bit of a shock to the system! I’m not complaining though – autumn is my favourite time of year. I like the cold, crisp mornings and love being able to wear chunky knits and boots.
Things haven’t been great on the reading and blogging side of things. I only managed to read five books this month, although in my defence, one of them was the size of approximately three “normal” books. I’m still struggling with blogging as well, which is feeling a little too much like a chore at the moment. I have started to wonder if it’s time to step away from blogging altogether. We’ll see how things go.

- Read in August, reviewed in September:
- The Enigma of Room 622 by Joël Dicker
- Hope to Die by Cara Hunter
- Tall Bones by Anna Bailey
- Children of Ruin by Adrian Tchaikovsky
- Read in September:
- Notes From the Burning Age by Claire North
- Stone Blind by Natalie Haynes
- The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
- Leave the World Behind by Rumaan Alum

Other Blog Posts
I also posted my 20 Books of Summer wrap up.
Incoming!
I received one book for review this month for a blog tour in November:
And purchased eleven:
TBR Watch
I think the less said about this the better!
- Books out = 5 read + 2 DNFs* = 7
- Books in = 1 ARC + 11 purchases = 12
- Gives an increase of 5 in my TBR!
*I may come back to some of the DNFs at a later date, but for now they have been removed from my TBR.

Dumas definitely counts for at least four books, one for effort and tenacity alone 😂
It is a beast! 💪
And you slayed it! 😂
I’ve heard Marseilles is great to visit and that temperature sounds wonderful with the change in the weather. It’s horrible when blogging becomes a chore Jo, I get that feeling regularly, but i seem to be okay at the moment. I’ll miss your blog if you do decide to stop, but you’ve got to do what’s right for you. x
I really enjoyed Marseille – would recommend it for a long weekend.
Thank you, Nicki – I’m not quite ready to throw in the towel just yet, but I think I need to get away from the entirely self-induced pressure of feeling like I need to post so many times a month.
Yes I’ve just come to that realisation as well Jo, just posting when I want to! x
I also find it hard to keep up with blog these days. It’s not issue with posting or writing but it’s other things associated with the blog.
Yes, life does get in the way, doesn’t it? For me it’s a lack of motivation to create the content, but I’m working through it x
Oh yes, it’s hard to find time with so much to read and little one, but with motivation it’s whole different thing. For me, doing same thing make it very boring and uninspiring. I think trying something new with blog might help Or change the format of post or it can be small thing like look.
Maybe. I have been thinking of switching to a different theme, so maybe I’ll look into that x
