It seems strange to be compiling a list of my favourite books of the year already, and yet here we are! 2019 has been another fantastic year for books and here are some of my favourites – in no particular order, apart from my book of the year – of those published in 2019. Clicking on the title will take you to my review 🙂
- Blood Orange by Harriet Tyce
- The Devil Aspect by Craig Russell
- The Familiars by Stacey Halls
- Last Ones Left Alive by Sarah Davis-Goff
- The Island by Ragnar Jónasson
- Blood & Sugar by Laura Shepherd-Robinson
- The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
- A Thousand Ships by Natalie Haynes
- Across the Void by S. K. Vaughn
And that brings us to my book of the year, which is (drum roll please):
- The Binding by Bridget Collins
And there you have it – my top 10 books of the year! Of course, if you ask me tomorrow, I might put together a slightly different list… It’s been a difficult list to put together, and has been through so many iterations that I’ve lost count!
This is my final post for the year – I’m now off to eat, drink, and be merry! Before I go, I’d like to say thank you to all the publishers, publicists, authors, and blog tour organisers who’ve fed my book habit this year, and to everyone who has stopped by Jo’s Book Blog. It’s been lovely chatting books with you. Have a lovely festive break, fellow bibliophiles – see you in the new year!
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and a very happy and bookish New Year, Jo 💚 🎄💚Huge thanks for all your support.
Thank you, Cathy! Have a lovely Christmas x
Thank you 🙂
It’s always difficult choose from the many good books we read and it’s same with me, I would choose a different list every time some ask to list favorites.
Yes – so many good books! It’s a nice problem to have 🙂
I’m so curious to see everyone’s lists, I really like yours even though I’ve only read two of them. I think we’ll share a title too. I’m going to have to post mine soon because I already changed books on my list twice 😋 Merry Christmas and happy New Year lovely, and thank you so much for all your support this year!!
I love seeing everyone’s favourite books of the year, and I usually find one or two (😉) that I’ve either not read or not come across! Looking forward to seeing your list 🤗
I hope you have a lovely Christmas, and thank you for your support, too 💙
Enjoy your break and have a very merry Christmas!
I did read and enjoy The Binding, but I definitely enjoyed the parts about the actual process of bindings more than the more domestic backstory. I felt that after that it just ended up being a slightly run-of-the-mill family saga type thing? I did enjoy it but I’d have liked more bindings 😀
The “how” behind it was fascinating, wasn’t it? I loved the world it’s set in, and I liked the characters and the backstory as well. It’s a book that has stayed with me all year ☺️
Excellent list, Jo. There are some I’d already forgotten about. Oops 😳
Hope you’ve had a wonderful Christmas. Happy New Year! xx
Thank you! I keep thinking “But I didn’t include book X!”
Christmas was lovely, thank you – less reading than I would have liked though! 😂 Hope you’re having a wonderful festive break! x
Ah, Silent Patient was pretty awesome! ❤
I loved it! I was a bit dubious about it, expecting something quite run of the mill, but it was amazing!
I have so many of these on my reading list so I’m glad to see lots that I recognise. Happy 2020!
Hope you enjoy them! x
